This miniseries depicts the life of Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone and dedicated teacher of the deaf. Bell’s lifelong deafness is what inspires him to develop a practical electric hearing-aid device that leads to the invention of the telephone. Bell has a childlike curiosity about everything around him. He’s an accomplished pianist, an author, lecturer, and inventive genius – from the Venetian blind, the iron lung and hydrofoil to genetics, animal breeding and founding the National Geographic Society – Bell was an extraordinary figure. Remaining faithful to the facts, John Bach portrays Bell not as a saintly icon but as an irascible, sometimes bombastic maverick.
